I have absolutely 100% have LOVED everything and anything to do with Shabby Chic, but I just couldn't get over the fact that I was loving the country farmhouse, french, simple look. I don't think I've ever really noticed it. I was actually getting bored with pink, green, white. That was always what I was looking for in my decor. So I really have toned down the whole look of my home. I really wanted simple, clean and alot of white. So I painted anything that was green to white. I really didn't spend alot of money changing up my living room/dining room. I used what I had, which was basically giving it a coat of paint. Then I sold most of my floral china and used that money to redecorate my downstairs.

Now, not so sure the name of my blog goes with the look I'm going for!! So now I need a new name! But my bedroom I'm keeping romantic, but I've also toned that down to.

Shabby armoire

Hello everyone!!! We have had our home repainted these past few weeks, I'm not done decorating my bedroom but I wanted to show you my latest purchase from the antique store. It's a armoire, I believe it is. It has a shelf and a rod for hanging clothes in it, but I actually use it to put my boxes, and boxes of memories. I have a box for each of my boys of clothes from the hospital and art work, and just a ton of pictures.

It's actually a brownish color it's not pink though it looks like it from the picture's. It has a beautiful green paint underneath and it has chipped off beautifully. This armoire is a gift from my father he was at the store with me and bought it for me. Thank you dad!!!

Hello!!! It's been forever since I've been on my blog!! It's been a crazy busy and a very cold winter! I hope everyone is doing well! I have to say there are just so many amazing blogs out there!! I sometimes cant make up my mind what style do I like best?? Do you get like that? There is just SO much talent. I'm just loving the farmhouse look! But I always gravitate to white, and as soon as I see Rachel Ashwell's blog, I know I just love shabby chic! Having said that, I changed my down stair's a little bit.

I've picked up some pieces at my favorite store Salvaged Goods, which is the oval mirror and the white urn, green shutter,and the white mirror. The price's are always very reasonable, so I can't pass them up! I'm having my whole inside repainted soon, I can't wait!

A new coffee table

Today I thought I would show you my new (old) coffee table. My favorite antique store Salvaged Goods had this as a table with longer legs and some wheels on the bottom and the shop owner told me cut the legs and you will get a really nice coffee table. I'm glad I did it I love it!! It's a dark green and it has beautiful chippy blue coming through. Until I find the perfect chippy white coffee table it's a keeper.

New Finds

I finally found a antique rose painting!! It's not an oil painting but an old Victorian painting on a board. It's framed and it's chippy in all the right places!! I love it!! I almost didn't buy it because it was pricey, but I knew it would bother me if I didn't buy it. I also picked up a green chippy chair along with a great white pitcher that I need to fill with flowers.

Tocca candles

Hello!! I have a new favorite item to love, it's Tocca candles. They smell amazing!! I have burned them since taking these pictures. Their perfume is amazing to. My favorite is Colette. Their website is tooca.com. They were a gift from my sister for my wedding anniversary. I thought today I would show where I have put them.

Hello everyone!! I purchased some new Simply Shabby Chic bedding, it was on clearance and couldn't resist. I added some pillows I already owned, the 2 floral pillow cases were from a yard sale this summer @ 25 cents a piece and they are from nautica. I thought they were so beautiful!!

I also am not a fan of my headboard, but my husband loves it, trying so hard to let him let go of it. I added my favorite tole tray and some more yard sale plates.

Hello everyone!! Hope everyone has been well. We have had some craziness lately, like a broken elbow, and a husband away in England, and Scotland for almost 2 weeks. He is back and now and I can have a little break before work today. My 5 year old fell off the monkey bars and landed on his elbow and broke it. Of course the day after my husband left for his trip it went downhill quickly. Also this past week I celebrated my 10 year anniversary!! My husband was super romantic, surprised me with a babysitter, took me out to a nice restaurant and had a dozen white roses waiting for me at the table! I loved it!!

For today just a shot of the beautiful roses, and some shots of the living room. I also had not shown before our family room. Just a room for us to gather and watch tv and hang out. Have a wonderful weekend.

Hello everyone!! My family take a annual trip to Wildwood, NJ every summer with my husband's family, and every year I stop in Primrose, a vintage shop. It's a must for me!!

The owner of Primrose has had her home shown in the June 2005 Country Living magazine. She has a beautiful home and her shop is the same way. It's so shabby chic and romantic. I always want to buy more there but we do drive and there is no room for me to take anything with me. But I always end up buying something for my home.

Hello everyone!! I hope you had a great summer! We kept it very simple. We bought a little 3 foot pool and the boys just swam in it all summer. But back to school was today! A little sad my youngest which will be 5 next week started kindergarten! My older son started 2nd grade, I can't get over how fast they grow!

I blogged last time and showed a curtain panel that I threw over my coffee table. I hung it up on a curtain rod and bought clips from Lowe's. I really love how it came out. It was just one panel but had to have it. I also just put a picture of my mantel, wanted to show my new tole tray, I just love them.

Hello everyone! I got a few thing's last week and a beautiful tablecloth at a garage sale last month for an amazing 50 cents!! It had some stains but I got them mostly out by using shoutand lot's scrubbing but I got them out. Last week I just had my 4 year old with me and my older son was with my parent's for the WHOLE week, it was amazingly quiet. But anyway I took him to some of my favorite antique store's and I found a beautiful curtain panel. It looks like a print on bark cloth fabric, but it's not it's a sheer fabric. I do planning on putting it up but for now I'm just throwing it over my coffee table. I love, love it!!!

Ok I am absolutely obsessed with tole tray's. I love finding them. I found this one on ebay, and received it just the other day. I hung it up in my dining room above the buffet. I just used those Velcro sticky thing's you can get from 3m they work great.

Garage Sale Treasures and a Antique Find

Hello everyone I hope you are having a great summer!! I have been going to alot of garage sales and thought I would share some items I bought and have put in my bedroom, including a amazing Simply Shabby Chic king size quilt I purchased for $7 and that includes the 2 shams!!! It was in amazing condition. The lady I got it from told me it was a full size quilt. When I put it on my bed I was amazed to find it was actually a KING!!! I also got a old white basket from a antique store for $6 and another tole tray!! I love it! It's a brown background with pretty pink roses with touches of green.

The Shabby Chic pillow in between was also from a garage sale last year for $1 and that included the pillow insert. The little pink rug is also a garage sale find for $5 and its from pottery barm kids. It absolutely amazes me what I find for my home and my family at garage sales. I even get my husband involved which makes it a fun family thing to do.

Hello everyone, I have been very busy and was having some computer problems that we just neglected to fix, but the computer is now fixed. I am so happy to be back blogging, I miss it. Hello everyone!!! I have been away on vacation and was just being lazy before I left to blog and lazy afterwards to blog. But I just got home this past Tuesday and needed a vacation from the vacation. But I have some wonderful pictures to show. We drove to Florida to go to Disney world then off to Sarasota, FL to go see Posh on Palm. They changed their name from The Cat's Meow. I also had the chance to meet the owner Suzie Holt. What an incredibly sweet person, I was so excited to meet her.

Posh on Palm is a beautiful store. Everything is just stunning, I used my husband's cell phone for picture's since of course my camera's batteries died as I get to the store. I could have spent hours in there but couldn't I had three boys waiting for me. I did end up buying a really shabby table and a candle holder. I wanted much more but we were driving home with all our luggage so my husband was able to squeeze a table in there for me. I will show the table in the store and in my home. I will have more picture's tomorrow.

I am leaving for vacation next Friday, we are off to Disney world, and to Sarasota, FL. But the exciting news is I'm planning a visit to Cat's Meow. A favorite spot in my home!!

Good Morning!!!!!! I just want to say thank you to everyone and their wonderful comments about my kitchen. They all are very sweet and kind and I love reading them!!! I really am stuck on what to blog about so I thought I would show some of my authentic Shabby Chic pillows.

I am very fortunate to own many of her items, I did have a store around the corner from my home selling her items, and many more products, like Pine Cone Hill, and House Inc. She did go out of business and I am hoping she will open another store again. It was Classic Chic. She was very good to me and allowed me to do layaway, which was how I was able to buy some duvets, and some pillows, and rugs. I hope everyone had a great weekend!!!

Hello everyone!!!! I hope you are having a great morning!! I wanted to show you my kitchen today!! I kept it pretty simple. I really am not a purple person but funny I have it in my kitchen today not realizing it until I looked at the photos. One of my favorite flowers are lilacs, and lilac candles are my absolute favorite scent. My kitchen aid mixer was a anniversary gift, I wanted a white one but my husband got me a used one for a $100 at William Sonoma. So it was no mixer or this light blue one. I said mixer, thank you very much!!

The light fixture is a Lowe's purchase, I am still looking for a nice antique one,until then I have this one. I also really need another kitchen table. This one is from Ikea and it was perfect until I can replace it with something nice and used!! I really prefer everything to be old, or something I can just paint. I always rather buy something used. I look at it as recycling!!

Garage Sale finds

This saturday Hackettstown, NJ had their town wide garage sales. There was so many garage sales, it was exhausting!! By 1 o'clock if you didn't get there early there was not much left. So I got some great stuff. I got a box of ironstone for $10 and it had 7 dinner plates, which were all in great condition, and 7 saucers, 7 dessert plates and 1 mug. The saucers were not in good shape, but that's ok I will use them as candle holders. Then I got 2 ironstone platters for $3 and 1 pitcher for $1. Not all the ironstone is in the picture, I am washing the rest of them.

Then I got the table decorating book for $1. The antique painting was $5 and not sure if it is a oil painting, but it definitely is old. I have to get used to it, it is very dark. And the other rose print was $2 it's not antique but for $2 I got it anyway, I thought it was pretty. I got more stuff to I got a shower curtain, it was in pottery barn package and was so excited it was $2 but it ended up being a nautica shower curtain. It was still a nice shower curtain. I also got a cute quilt, and my boy's got some nice stuff too!! I would love to know if anyone else got some nice garage sale finds too, please let me know!!

I just loooove tole ware trays!!! They are one of my absolute favorite thing's to collect right now. This is one is the same artist as my light blue/green tray. The light blue/green tray is a gift from my parent's. They are so good to me they are always buying me something, thank you mom and dad!!! The light blue/green tray is my favorite!!! I received the yellow one in the mail this week from thepetitemarket please check out their etsy shop, there are some really great thing's for sale.

Country Living Bedrooms Book

I have that planter I bought and used in the bathroom, and I posted it. I am not using it in there I am going to Lowe's tonight and picking me up some ivy and using it in my room like that!!! I love it!!!

I have to show my new book!!! I was waiting for my son at homegoods to finish looking a books, they had Diary of a Wimpy Kid so I knew it could be a while. But I found this book. I love their magazine's and their other home decorating books, but I didn't know about this one. Just showing you some pictures in the book, but you need to go out and buy it, you will after you see some of these bedrooms. I checked on amazon and their are a couple more for your bathroom , and kitchen, and living room. They are Easy Transformations. I am ordering the living room one. I hope you enjoyed the book!!!!

I got this buffet server a while ago and I was finally able to put it into the dining room. I wasn't sure if it fit right in between the window's but I think it works, which was my husband's idea. Downstair's Bathroom

I had mentioned the other day I went to a tent sale and was so excited to come home with a rug, and a window panel. I actually didn't buy them that day. I had to think about them, so I called the next day to see if the rug and window panel were sold and there were not. I was relieved they didn't sell, because they really belonged to me!!! I couldn't believe I passed them up, what was I thinking!! I do that sometimes!! I actually really needed a runner for the sliding door, which was why I was like what are thinking you need that rug and the rug was only $20!!!

The window panel was $5 and I like it up on the mantle for now. It is pink on the other side too!!! I also really love old vintage hat boxes, but have not ever found one. But I did on Saturday, and I love it!!! I love the colors and love that it is vintage. Now just where to put it??

Master Bedroom

Today I would like to show you our bedroom. It still is not done, and I am just taking my time trying to buy the right items. I have bought 2 dresser's not happy with the first one so I sold it at our garage sale. Then I bought the one I have about a year ago and just gave it the white treatment. It needs to be painted again, and you'll see in the picture's some dark spots. The bed frame is actually my brother in law's he asked to leave it in our basement and my husband really liked it so we are using it for now. I would love to have a white headboard from Shabby Chic, but that probably won't happen. A girl could dream!!!

I have had the white chair for about 7 year's now, and the bottom part is not a slipcover so it's kind of beat up by the arm's. It's been through 2 boy's and some messy hands, but the rest of it is slip covered and looks great. The bedding is from ebay, etsy, garage sale, target, and home goods. There is my "R" pillow case, which I just love and it was only 9.99 for the both!!! The 2 pillow shams were 25 cents each, can you believe that!! The duvet is home goods, I believe I paid $39.99 for duvet, 2 shams, and 2 pillowcases. Then the bed skirt is Simply Shabby Chic.

It is so great we can decorate on a budget. If anyone is new to garage sales, because I actually am last summer was my first time ever going to garage sales, you must start going!!!! We are supposed to get some hot weather this weekend so maybe next week I will have some more garage sale goodies!!!!

A new mirror

Hello everyone I hope you had a nice weekend!!! Well I stumbled upon a tent sale this weekend while I was on my way to T.J.Maxx. This is actually one of my favorite antique store's in Clinton, NJ. I bought a few thing's back from there and I wrote about it the Blu Daisy. So anyway I pulled over right away and was so excited when I saw some beauties already from my car, hoping no one would touch them!!! Thankfully no one did!! I did find a beautiful rug, and a window panel with chippy white and pink paint!! But I will show that another day. Went inside to find some price's on some item's and was just browsing through the store and I found the perfect mirror for my bedroom!!!

See I have had an empty wall since I moved in this house over 2 year's ago. For me the price has to be good, which is not so easy to find. I did pay $49 for the mirror which I though was not so bad. I've seen this mirror before for like $80. It has a beautiful rose swag on top with chippy creamy white paint. I just love it and I hope you do too!!!

My Living Room

Today I am showing you my living room. It is still a work in process. But most of it came from garage sales, and Ikea. My wicker chair, the big rose print on top of mantle, coffee table, and my big Rachel Aswell Shabby Chic pillow also came from a garage sale. You wouldn't believe what I paid for it. $1 yup that's right $1, and it also came with two other shabby chic pillows so for $3 I got 3 shabby chic pillows and the big insert pillow. The couch's are from Ikea, they wash really well, but not the most comfortable couch.

My dining room and living room are really just one big room. The living room is actually supposed to be one big living room, but I didn't like it set up that way. So my actual dining room is now the tv room. It is better that way. I can't imagine my boy's in my big pretty room watching tv with all of my good stuff.

I was browsing other blogs today and I just love the blogs that showcase their home. I love seeing what people get and what they pay for their finds. But for me my absolute favorite is seeing how people decorate their homes. The first of every month I wake up and go to the The Old Painted Cottage to see who's cottage is of the month. So I just love how people decorate their homes, that explains all of my magazine's and decorating books.

I am going to show today the front entrance to my home. I have got a Dash and Albert rug. I actually got it for 30% off and I love that it can be washed. Then the table was a garage sale find. I do plan on painting it white just haven't done it yet so I just through a curtain over it. Another garage sale find is my wicker chair. I am very excited it seems like the garage sale season is starting. Maybe I will find another one this weekend.

We had such a beautiful weekend, I had to get out and go shopping!!! I went to a flea market this weekend, and brought home this pretty pink tablecloth!!! I didn't find anything else which was a bummer. But there is always a next time. I did find a garage sale that was selling some limoges, I will post another day what I got from there. So here is my newest find!!! Now I just need to have some company over for dinner!!

Then last weekend we went to the Goodwill thrift shop and came home with a Simply Shabby Chic balloon shade!!! I really did want this at target, but didn't want to spend the money. So this was $8. Not bad!! I also bought those green plates I posted in my favorite roses, those were 1/2 off and were a $1 a plate!! Thank you everyone for all of your comments!! Shabby Mirror

I literally jumped for joy when I saw this mirror for sale at the antique store. It is perfect it is pink and has some blue coming through the front and on the side most of the pink paint is gone. I was with my mom when I got this, and she was like are you sure you want this?? Oh yeah I want this mirror!! It is just like the mirror in Rachel Ashwell's new book. I am so copying her right now with this mirror!! But I loved it when I saw it in her home. That was why I jumped for joy!!

I really like this plant stand, but am not very good at taking care of plants, so using it for that would not work for me. But I needed a shelf in my bathroom so I thought why not use it for that. Not sure if I like it yet, but it does the trick. Please let me know what you think.

I have been trying to look at things in another way to use them. I got this bottle holder and thought I know I can use this for something else. So I came up with a way of showing off some flowers. I could also put some nice big white candles in there too.

Jane Austen Exhibit

I was very fortunate today to visit The Morgan Museum and Library to see the Jane Austen exhibit. Unfortunately I was not allowed to take any photo's, but I took a photo of a picture that was online! It was very neat to see her actual handwriting. She has such beautiful handwriting.

Her original books that were published were on display, it just made me think what it must have been like to live in the 1800's. Well I am headed home now after the terrible storm we had.

Here are those pictures I got from Sylvia Cook. I just put them in those pink frames I got the other day and put them up on my mantle. It was hard to take picture of my mantle, and I really don't have a great camera, so the picture isn't that great!! But I thought I would show where I put the pictures.

I am also very excited this Saturday my husband is taking me into the city to the Morgan Library & Museum. Where there are showing the work of Jane Austen!!! There are showing more than one hundred of Jane's manuscripts, and personal correspondence. I am just so excited!! My husband is truly very sweet to take me, because I know it will bore him to death and it is day off!! Also so kind of my mom to watch the boy's so I have a day off!!! I am not sure if I can take picture's but if I can I will definitely post them next week!

Roses, Roses, and more Roses

I have to admit for a magazine lover that I am, I didn't know about Flea Market Style magazine. When I started browsing blogs, this magazine kept popping up everywhere!! So I got the number for the magazine and called wanting some back issues, unfortunately you have to order 15 copies. So I just waited until their newest issue to come out. Since roses are my favorite topic, I love their article on roses. I have been looking, and looking everywhere at my antique stores, and of course the Internet for original oil painting's. I have never found one I could afford!! I will keep hunting for my first one!! I wish I owned a huge collection of them like the cottage of the month for January!! If you haven't checked it out you should!! You will love it! Onto another subject thank you very much Shabby Kim, I took your advice and ordered Vintage Style from Cath Kidston. I'm sure I will love it!! Thank you very much for everyone's comment's I love to read them!!!

I got these frames at the antiques store and I am going to use them for those pictures I got at etsy. I'll post another day with them on my mantle.

I just got these in the mail yesterday!! I got these from ebay and I had to have them!! They have the letter R!! How perfect for me!!

My husband was actually at a thrift shop for the kids and came home and surprised me with these tea cups and saucers! He thought that I would like these and figured what the heck they are only $1 each. Usually he doesn't even bother, knowing I am very picky. But these are sweet! I really did like them. I usually buy antique china, so I really don't know anything about this brand

I have been browsing amazon to buy some more decorating books and remembering I saw someones blog, I can't remember who but they showed their book collection. So I thought I would show what I have. I would like to know what books that I don't have that I have to have. I'm looking for books that are very shabby, vintage, and I also love the cottage look too. I do have a large collection of magazines, especially Romantic Homes and I know they have put a couple of home decor books so I don't need those. I really like to order from amazon because their used and so affordable, like I find them at a thrift shop. I would love to hear some suggestions!! Thank you!!

Seven things about me that you don't know:

1. I am a tv show addict! My absolute favorite show is Lost!! I am also a fan of the Bachelor go Vienna!!! And everything else!

2. I was 17 years old when I got my first Shabby Chic book, and still am addicted 14 years later!

3. I started subscribing to Romantic Homes in 1999 and stopped subscription in 2006 I just didn't like the change in the magazine. But now they are getting better.

4. Shopaholic all the way! I could shop everyday! I just love handbags, and shoes, and clothes and of course decorating shopping!

5. I sell Immunotec products.

6. Big Jane Austen fan. My favorite is Pride and Prejudice, the Kiera Knightly version. I could watch that everyday!

7. I am always cleaning!! It never stops! With 2 boy's and alot of white it never ends!

Shabby Chic dvd

I just had to talk about Rachel Ashwell's shabby chic dvd, shabby chic treasures!! This is such a great dvd!! She does an amazing job decorating a home for her parents. I so wish I could hire her for the day to decorate my home. I recommend going out and getting this! I got it when she was still selling on her website, so not sure where this will be available. Maybe amazon or ebay. Just worth it!! I'm sure alot of you already got it, but her new book is also a must have. I will in the morning before my boy's are up, and with a cup of coffee just devour her book. It is my favorite!!

A Little Girls Dresser

I got this at a garage sale, and I was thinking for my dining room. But it was after I bought it, the lady told me it was her daughter's dresser. So my question is does this look like a dresser? Does this work as a hutch for my dining room? I am anxiously waiting for the garage sale season to start so I can find some new goodies to paint. I did however found it painted white. That was a plus. So please let me know what you think.

She has so many amazing prints to pick from, I would have ordered all of them!! But I ordered two of them and I am showing these picture's today. I hope you get the chance to stop by!!! I went antique shopping today, went to the Blu Daisy in Clinton,NJ they have such a variety to pick from, and they always have new thing's every time i go. Today i just got some antique forks, couldn't beat the 50 cents price tag!! Then some ironstone plates and the mirror in the background. They also have such a way of setting their displays you just want to buy everything!! I am sure that happens to alot of people!!

I got this little biscuit jar at a garage sale for $1 and thought i could use it as a vase instead. They have been selling roses really cheap lately at shoprite, which is good for me, not my husband!! I thought some pretty roses will cheer me up in this freezing weather, make it feel like it is spring inside!!!
